Although Christmas is not a public holiday in UAE, every year, the city lights up with towering Christmas trees against the backdrop of its modern skyline. The atmosphere is vibrant, feeling like a warm embrace of cultures coming together to celebrate. This December, besides the usual sparkling decorations, the magical Candlelight Christmas concerts are also set to illuminate Abu Dhabi, offering heartwarming performances of beloved Christmas movie soundtracks and popular carols.
Coming to The NYU Blue Hall, a go-to spot for anything related to the arts, these classical tributes will take on songs like “Once Upon A December” from Anastasia, “Joy To The World” and “Jingle Bells Rock” from Home Alone. The talented pianist Aldo Dotto will be wowing audiences gorgeous renditions of these songs and more, as they’re surrounded by the twinkling lights of thousands of candles.
Candlelight Christmas: Love Actually, Home Alone & More
Movies like Home Alone, Love Actually and The Holiday have earned their place as holiday season classics because they embody the warmth and chaos that come with any holiday, really. They depict what it sometimes feels like to spend time with the family or rush to get your loved ones meaningful gifts, offering a blend of humour and nostalgia.
What truly elevates these movies though are their soundtracks and scores—think of the heart-stirring pop classics like “Last Christmas” from Love Actually or the festive “Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!” from Home Alone 3. Well, you’re in good luck this December because these scores and more are coming to The NYU Blue Hall thanks to the enchanting Candlelight Christmas series. It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas, indeed!
After winning the hearts of millions across the world, the cheery Candlelight Christmas concerts land in Abu Dhabi for some festive fun. Take your seat in a charming venue and let yourself be serenated by a talented pianist as thousands of candles sway to beloved Christmas songs.
There are three back-to-back performances scheduled for 5:00pm, 7:00pm and 9:00pm so you can choose the one that best fits your schedule. Doors open 30 minutes before curtain and late entry will not be permitted.
