This is a part of Louvre Abu Dhabi’s Art in Motion programme and here’s how you grab a spot.
Four free movies across four weekends at Louvre Abu Dhabi
The movie screenings will take place every Saturday at 6PM sharp. Hosted in the museum’s Auditorium, the indoor seating will be perfectly relieving from the summer heat. And don’t even get us started on the stellar line-up. Make sure you book a seat before here.
The screenings will be an absolute blast, bringing back the Disney deer and Pixar robots. Here’s the much-anticipated animated classics line-up:
August 1: Wall-E (2008)
On Saturday, August 1, Pixar’s heart-warming science-fiction will come to life. Step into a future where humans have temporarily abandoned Earth and a trash-compacting robot walks aimlessly across the trash-covered surface. Until he falls in love with a flying droid and they go on a quest together to restore hope to mankind. Wall-E is an absolute masterpiece – timeless and for all generations. There’s something to learn for everyone at Louvre Abu Dhabi that night.
August 8: Ratatouille (2007)
Hear me out – a rat as a culinary master-chef. Who would’ve thought? Ratatouille follows the story of a rat who can cook exceptionally well – but unfortunately realises that no human would ever eat a meal cooked by a rat. So he makes an unusual alliance with a young kitchen worker at a famous Paris restaurant. Together, they cook dishes that are absolutely incredible through the screen. Go on this culinary journey on Saturday, August 8 at Louvre Abu Dhabi, trust us.
August 15: Bambi (1942)
Although set during the World War II, this is one of Disney’s most iconic movies. Set in the forest, a young deer named Bambi decides to go on an adventure. His friend Thumper, the rabbit, and Flower, the skunk, set out together to uncover one mystery at a time. The young prince Bambi learns about life, love and friends while stumbling along in his scrawny legs. It’s 84th anniversary is on August 13 and that guarantees a rewatch from us on Saturday, August 15 at Louvre Abu Dhabi.
August 22: The Lion King (1994)
A story that grips you from the start to end. That’s it, that’s the movie gist. If you love animated animals and coming-of-age movies, The Lion King will keep you at the edge of the seat. The young lion Simba and his king father are targeted by the bitter uncle Scar. The uncle wants the thrown for himself and is a master trickster. Over and over, you are pushed into a cycle of tears and happiness – until you give up and ‘Hakuna Matata’ it away. On August 22, this is your last chance to catch the movie – and man, it is a good one.
