We have exciting tidings! Aquaman, oops, Jason Momoa has been appointed Yas Island’s newest Chief Island Officer. As far as ridiculously fun job titles go, it doesn’t get more amusing than being Yas Island’s brand ambassador. Kevin Hart will confirm, as the first-ever Chief Island Officer of Yas Island.
The video showing Momoa stepping into his new role makes me reconsider my career path. Wouldn’t you if a job existed that lets you paddle-board around the gorgeous shores of Yas Island, howl with joy on a Monday as Ferrari World’s rollercoaster, or make a splash on the waterslides at Yas Waterworld instead of drowning in meetings?
Well, tough luck. Coz that job is now Jason Momoa’s to have for the next year. And all you and I can do is learn to vicariously ‘live it up like Momoa’ – the official tagline for the entertainment hotspot this year.
Island life comes second nature to the Hawaiian-born Game of Thrones star, who’s a water baby outside of his Aquaman suit too. Off-screen, he switches up his trident for surfboards and being an advocate of the United Nations Environment Programme’s Life Below Water campaign.
The man sure makes waves with important jobs, and without a sliver of a doubt he’ll be taking to his Yas Island gig like a fish to water and inject some Aloha vibes into Abu Dhabi.
What does the job of Chief Island Officer involve?
Going by Kevin Hart’s stint as Chief Island Officer, Momoa will probably feature in a ton of (insanely hilarious) tourism videos and campaigns promoting the many delights of Yas Island, from the F1 circuit to Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi and more. Jason’s appointment has followed the same trajectory as Hart’s, where the official announcement coincided with the start of the Arabian Travel Market.
“We are pleased to appoint Hollywood sensation Jason Momoa as the new chief island officer for Yas Island Abu Dhabi,” said Liam Findlay, chief executive of Miral Destinations. “We received resounding feedback following Kevin Hart’s farewell campaign and we are excited to deliver yet another successful storyline for fans to follow.”
Now what that storyline will involve is anybody’s guess.
That Aquaman’s 2nd installment, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, will hit theatres in December 2023 hasn’t skipped our minds. Maybe in the near future, Momoa’s DC superhero character and Momoa the Chief Island Officer might unite. Atlantis might be lucky enough to become Yas Island for a day. Who knows. A girl can dream.
Until then, there’s plenty to do and see and thrill-seek at Yas Island.
